I'm signed up for the beta testing for version 5; and was wondering when it was going to be released. I accidently deleted all the photos from my tree and was hoping that the 'merge' function would allow me to merge my tree with an earlier version that had the pictures that i needed.
Is there any way that I can get this program to recognize a different PDF reader other than Adobe? Adobe isn't working well, and if I try to reinstall it, it says that I don't have some key, and then it backs out. I am logged in as the administrator, just in case that is an issue. ; ) I want to try that in case that is the problem I am having saving the pdf file.
Every Time I try to generate a book report it fails. I have tried for various different records in my database and stills fails. I have tried closing the application and it still fails. I tried reinstalling the software and it still fails. The error message is: The Complete Genealogy Reporter has stopped working.
I am using latest make of FTB on my PC. I have 122 individuals with quite a few photos. On the PC all individuals look ok and work fine. However, when I publish it to your website I get many Unknowns.
I don't see a way to correct this on the website and it tells me to re-publish with FTB. Erasing the site and republishing gives the same results? This can be seen at GH White Family website.
You're definitely signed in when you look online? Because if you aren't, then it will treat you like a nonmember, and they keep records of anyone still loving blank for nonmembers.
there are two reasons that can cause individuals to apear as 'unknown' in your site: if you marked them as 'Private' in the FTB or if you have a problem in the projects' language setting
please read this FAQ post which explains how to check and fix both scenarios:
This program does not work properly. I cannot export name list to excel, import photos to specific individuals, get through 1 day without having to reinstal the tool bar and the inability for My Heritage to fix any of the problems.
I am running Tree Builder 4.0. The operating system is Microsoft Vista Home Premium with Webroot Security Essentials. I have totally removed your program from my computer and then reinstalled it to try to solve some of the problems with no luck. The link you give me is the same as I just used to reinstall your program.
I'm not sure the exact cause of the problems you are having. I can say, however, that thousands of users with Windows Vista are able to use Family Tree Builder with no problems.
I see that you've already had some correspondence with support and haven't been able to resolve your problems. I'm sorry you continue to have trouble. If you're willing to continue to work with us we'll do our best to get you up and running.
My guess is that the security on your computer (either in Vista itself or in your anti virus software) is causing the problem. Let's start with a few things to see if it makes a difference.
1. Please make sure you are logged in as the administrator of your computer when installing Family Tree Builder.
2. Please add the following .exe files as "accepted" in your anti virus software:
I had mad a blunder mistake by deleting my online backup as i was getting confused about the unwanted sites and with it i have found out that all of my photos have also been deleted and now i am in a lot of trouble.
Is there any way i can restore my family tree. I used to use multiple computer to upload my photos from various cyber cafe and i had put a lot of time collecting informations about all the photos. It took me nearly more than 2 years. Now i am nowhere. Can anyone help me in fixing my mistake or there is no way out.
I am from Siliguri, India and i don't have the capacity to back up all my datas online through the back up service as i don't have the necessary fund. I am still trying to find a job.
I had been exporting trees to FTB in order to make an all in one chart and convert to pdf because it was an easier way to catch mistakes. This process had been working fine, but a little while later as I was saving to pdf it said "oops, pdf did not generate properly." It suggested that my file was too big, but it is smaller than it was when it worked. I have tried several times since then after altering my tree, but it never works. I should add that the first time it didn't work is when I exported pictures. I figured not exporting would probably fix it, but it didn't.
When you get a hot match and select the compare screen, in the right hand information pane the text can sometimes be shifted off the right side of the screen and no scroll bar is available. This happens when a fact with a long name is set up for either of the persons being compared such as 'Known Number Of Children' or 'Known Number of Marriages'.
Secondly issue: When creating a Fact Citation, the drop down box for 'Citation' is quite short compared to the actual field length (which is n * 248). So if you have a number of sources with similar text at the start (e.g. 'Birth Certificate of Firstname Lastname' it is hard to find the right one as you scroll down the list). Maybe a mouse-over balloon pop-up could be used to show more text as you move down the list and hit one that is wider than the drop down.
I had a third one but can't remember it at the moment :-)
Would it be possible to register for the Beta program for FamilyTreeBuilder 5 please?
I just installed Family Tree Builder 4 on my PC and it keeps trying to install an Internet Explorer toolbar on my system. I cleared that checkbox and the seach engine one when I installed the app. It continuously tries to change the default search provider for IE and continuously tries to install the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Family Toolbar\tbcore3.dll".
Other than removing Family Tree Builder, how can I tell the application to stop making unrequested changes to my web browser? I don't want any custom toolbars installed and I'm quite happy with my current search provider.
I was able to remove it on my own, I was just curious why it was doing that. There are two check boxes on the installer. One asks if you want to change the default search provider, the other asks about installing the toolbar. I declined both options and the installer tried to do both anyways. I am running Windows 7, 64 bit edition.
You don't actually need IE in order to do research through FTB. I know the online program does, but you don't need to research through the online site. In my opinion you should find a better browser such as firefox. I also use Google Chrome but I switch to firefox when chrome isn't compatible with something.
